Contest 48

7 / 28 - score 48%

The Contest 48 is a 48.23ft masthead ketch designed by Dick Zaal and built in fiberglass by Contest Yachts - Conyplex between 1976 and 1978.

5 units have been built.

The Contest 48 is a heavy sailboat which is slightly under powered. It is reasonably stable / stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a heavy bluewater cruising boat. The fuel capacity is excellent. There is an excellent water supply range.

Despite its low score, this boat is ranked in the top quarter. It seems difficult to do much better. It is one of the best possible tradeoffs for this request.
